Man arrested, charged following Lumberton shooting that injured one

LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) – A man was arrested last week following a shooting near the 100 block of Carolina Avenue that left one person injured.

Officers were dispatched to the incident on August 31 around 7:30 p.m. where they located a 27-year-old man who had been shot in the leg, according to a news release from the Lumberton Police Department. The victim, whose injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Officers on scene located the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Demarreon McDaniel, who reportedly attempted to run and throw a handgun. McDaniel was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with serious injury, the release says. He was taken to the Robeson County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
