MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Excessive flies, maggots and mildew were found at some restaurants this week, according to inspectors.

Sharkey's Beach Club is at 600 N. Ocean Blvd., in Myrtle Beach. State inspectors gave them 70 out of 100 points, noting that they saw drain flies around the sinks in the downstairs bar, a deflector plate in the ice machine with a buildup of mildew, a reach-in cooler in the upstairs kitchen that had chicken liquid holding in the bottom, carbon build-up observed along the grill in the upstairs kitchen, grease build-up and splatter observed on the stove in the upstairs kitchen, and ice build-up observed in both the upstairs and downstairs chest freezers.

Avista Resort is at 300 N. Ocean Blvd., in North Myrtle Beach.Inspectors gave them a 78, saying some foods were stored at improper temperatures and on the floor in boxes. Some items were observed without use-by dates, boxed foods were stored on floor in the walk-in cooler and freezer, sheet pans with packaged meats were stored on floor in walk-in cooler, and a sink in the dish area was not accessible.

Disco Centro Latino Store is at 400 Broadway Street in Myrtle Beach. It earned a 78. The report lists excessive flies, maggots and fly larvae inside the freezer. Additionally, an invoice was unable to be provided for whole fish heads the facility serves as tilapia, and fish and poultry were improperly thawing in a sink.

China Buffet is at 1293 38th Ave., in Myrtle Beach. Inspectors gave the spot an 81. The report says some food was improperly stored and labeled, a dish rack holding clean cups in the wait station had a buildup of mold and mildew along the side of the rack, and roaches were seen in a bulk container of uncooked rice.

If you're looking for breakfast and lunch seven days a week at a local spot, Joe's Diner By The Airport is at 2895 Fred Nash Blvd. in Myrtle Beach. Inspectors gave the diner a perfect 100 at a recent inspection.
