Deputies: Man armed with pellet gun travels by taxi to rob Pawleys Island convenience store

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A man armed with a pellet gun was arrested early-Monday morning after deputies say he attempted to steal alcoholic beverages from a Pawleys Island convenience store.

According to a news release from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the Hot Spot at 9332 Ocean Highway after receiving a call that a man was traveling to the store via taxi to commit a robbery.

Deputies say Patrick Owen Rodgers II, 20, of Pawleys Island, was apprehended as he left the store at about 2:30 a.m. Charges of robbery, armed robbery while armed or allegedly armed with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon and minor in possession of beer or wine are pending, the release says.

No one was injured in the incident. Rodgers is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
