MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Friday will be much like the past few days: hot and humid with only a very small chance of late-day storms.
Highs will be in the mid to low 90s today and a heat index near 100 this afternoon. Rain stays out of the forecast for most of the day with only a 20 percent chance of a storm or two around 5 p.m., most likely inland.
A weak cold front will drop into the Carolinas over the weekend and stall through early next week. This front will interact with high humidity to create a much better chance of showers and storms. While the weekend will not be a washout, storm chances will increase and some periods of locally heavy rain will be likely at times.
Temperatures this weekend will remain in the upper 80s to lower 90s with high humidity keeping the heat index near 100 or just above.
