Inlet Square Mall owner files lawsuit claiming operators are months behind on rent

Owners suing mall operators over rent

MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – The owners of Inlet Square Mall have filed a lawsuit against the current operators, claiming they are two months behind on rent.

According to the lawsuit, which was filed on Aug. 7, West C Street Holdings, LLC state Murrells Inlet Retail Associates, LLC and Rait Partnership, LP, failed to pay rent for June and July, and failed to respond to a notice of default.

The lawsuit also alleges the defendants continue to collect rent from Inlet Square Mall tenants but do not pay what is owed to the plaintiff.

According to court documents, the terms of the lease between West C Street and the defendants is that they pay $547,363.74 annually in rent, which is payable in monthly installments of $45,613.65.

The plaintiff is asking the court to award them the past-due rent and prohibit the defendants from collecting rent from the mall's more than 40 tenants.
