FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - The 2018 defending American Arena League champions are making their way to the Pee Dee.
During a Tuesday press conference, it was announced the arena football team Carolina Havoc will move its franchise to Florence just in time for the 2019 spring season.
Before making its way to South Carolina, the Havoc played at Buford Arena in Georgia under the name Atlanta Havoc.
Head coach Anson Yarborough said he is excited to bring pro sports to the Pee Dee.
"It's exciting. I think we have a lot of momentum bringing a championship here and winning a championship, so we have a lot of excitement going into next season from a football standpoint," Yarborough said. "So bringing that to a community that I want to say is hungry for some sports teams stuff, professional sports team."
The Havoc will also have youth initiatives and other programs that will bring them closer to the community.
