LITTLE RIVER, SC (WMBF) – The suspect wanted in connection to the robbery at the BB&T in Little River Tuesday is behind bars in Brunswick County, North Carolina.
Brunswick County deputies identified Anthony McKeithan as the suspect after Horry County Police sent out a BOLO to the agency, including a photo of McKeithan taken inside the bank, according to the police report.
McKeithan was taken into custody Wednesday morning by Brunswick County deputies during a traffic stop, according to police.
In Horry County, he faces charges for robbery/entering a bank, depository or bldg. and loan association with intent to steal.
He is also charged with resisting a public officer, according to the Brunswick County Detention Center's website.
Horry County Police responded to the bank on Highway 17 at 5:02 p.m., the report states.
A victim says she told McKeithan she would be right with him when he walked in. He then went back out to his car briefly before returning. She says when she called him over to a window he slid a hand-written note to her, according to the police report.
The victim said she wasn't sure if the suspect went back to his car to get a weapon, so she did as the note said, grabbing all of her $100 bills and giving them to him, the report states. He left the bank before she could give him the smaller bills.
He left the scene in the direction of Brunswick County, driving a grey Chrysler 300 with North Carolina plates.
No one was hurt in the robbery,
McKeithan will be extradited back to Horry County as soon as possible, Horry County Police Capt. John Harrelson said in a news release.
"The Horry County Police Department would like to express our appreciation for all the assistance the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office provided us in this investigation," said Harrelson.
