HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – An 11-year-old boy is accused of intentionally setting fire to a home in the Socastee area.
According to a report from the Horry County Police Department, first responders were sent to a home on White Pine Drive on Thursday after calls came in of a fire.
A woman said the house was full of smoke and she was trying to get the rest of the victims out of the home.
The report stated the ages of the other people who were inside the home at the time of the fire were an 18-year-old woman, a 46-year-old man, a 7-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old girl.
According to the report, the 11-year-old was also taken out of the home and the fire extinguished.
Investigators said a bedroom was the site of the fire, as there was burned-up material on the floor as well as some water. According to the woman, the juvenile tried to make it look like an electrical fire.
The report states the 11-year-old reportedly removed items from the refrigerator and had tried to leave the home through a window, but was stopped by family members.
The suspect was transported from the home, but the destination was redacted.
