MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A newly published report from the July 4 incident at Broadway at the Beach reveals security told Myrtle Beach police there were two active fights that sparked the chaos.
That report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department also reiterates that no gunshots were fired.
People attending Broadway at the Beach's fireworks display began to run toward the exits after rumors spread that there was an active shooter.
Meanwhile, details behind what started the fights that escalated the night into mass panic remain unknown.
According to the report, around 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, Paula Deen's Restaurant was also evacuated following a report by county police saying there might have been a bomb inside.
No bomb was ever found in or around the restaurant, according to authorities.
