FIRST ALERT: Typical summer day with chance of sea breeze showers, inland pop up storms

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Thursday and Friday will be hot and humid with both days featuring a 30 percent chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s at the beach and lower 90s inland.

Our next big weather maker arrives by the weekend. A cold front will approach the region on Saturday.  As the front draws closer, it will interact with high humidity in place to produce a good chance of thunderstorms especially Saturday afternoon and evening. Very little in the way of severe weather is expected, but some of the storms will have locally heavy rain and frequent lightning.

The cold front will settle south of the region by late Sunday into early next week. This will bring a slight break to the heat, humidity and storms. By Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will stay below 90 in the afternoon, nights will be a bit more comfortable and afternoon storms will take a break.
