MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Heat and humidity continue to build as we head towards the weekend. Temperatures continue their climb today with the return of the lower 90s along the Grand Strand and upper 90s across the Pee Dee. The heat index will likely climb above 100 to 105 at times and a chance for heat advisories to be issued for the afternoon. Rain chances look slim with just a few afternoon and early evening pop up storms. A more widespread chance for scattered showers arrives by Friday night.
The heat will be the main story this weekend as the heat index remains above 105 through Sunday. More heat advisories look likely through the weekend. The next relief from the heat won't arrive until Tuesday of next week, as storm chances look more likely by the middle of next week.
