ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson City Fire Department said crews are responding to a fire at a scrap yard on North Gossett Street.

Fire officials said the call came in around 2:50 on Thursday.

Travis Poore, Public Information Officer for the department, said that a hazmat team has been called to bring in foam to assist in putting out the fire and hot spots.

A large amount of plastic in the area is keeping the fire from going out, Poore said. Wind also caused the fire to spread rapidly, the fire department said.

According to Poore, the fire has been contained to a concrete pad.

No injuries have been reported in the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

We'll make it to the 90s again at the beach and the middle 90s inland. With temperatures a degree or two cooler than the last several days, no heat advisories are in effect, but the heat index will still climb to between 100 and 104. The afternoon and evening will see just a 30 percent chance of a stray shower or storm.
