NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A teenager arrested in connection with a North Charleston murder didn't receive a bond Friday morning.

Police arrested 18-year-old Maurice T. Singleton Thursday afternoon and charged him with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

The arrest comes as North Charleston Police Chief Reggie Burgess has marched twice in the area with area religious leaders to "stop the violence."

Singleton was arrested for an incident on March 2 when police officers responded to CSX Railroad property on Bennett Yard Road where an unresponsive man, later identified as 18-year-old Vaughn McFadden, was found.

Surveillance footage from the railyard captured the sound of gunfire at 5:23 p.m. The footage also captured Singleton leaving the scene around 5:37 p.m. according to the affidavit. Charleston County court records show Singleton was given a personal recognizance bond for unlawful carrying of a firearm in 2017.
