COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Suspended Louisville freshman Brian Bowen Jr. has signed to play with South Carolina. Bowen was held out of practices and games after Louisville announced it was being investigated as part of a federal corruption probe of bribery in college basketball that led to the firing of coach Rick Pitino. The 6-foot-7 forward will sit out the next two semesters before hitting the court, due to NCAA transfer rules.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson receiver Deon Cain is joining the growing list of Tigers' underclassmen declaring for the NFL draft. The school announced Cain's decision Wednesday. He joins receiver Ray-Ray McCloud, safety Van Smith and offensive lineman Taylor Hearn as Tigers giving up their remaining eligibility to turn pro.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - WNBA coaches Cheryl Reeve, Brian Agler and Dan Hughes will serve as court coaches at USA Basketball women's national team training camp in South Carolina next month. The trio will help coach Dawn Staley with on-court drills and scrimmages during the three-day camp from Feb. 9-11.

CULL0WHEE, N.C. (AP) - Marc Gosselin hit a 3-pointer with a minute left to give Western Carolina a four-point lead, and the Catamounts held off a Mercer rally from the free-throw line to post a 58-56 Southern Conference victory Wednesday night. Stephon Jelks hit a pair of 3s in the closing seconds to get Mercer within a point, the second with :02 left.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Harrison Barnes had 25 points and 11 rebounds, Yogi Ferrell made seven 3-pointers and scored 22 points and the Dallas Mavericks fended off fatigue to beat a fresh Charlotte Hornets team 115-111 on Wednesday night. Dirk Nowitzki added 19 points for the Mavericks, and Dennis Smith Jr. had 15. The Mavericks were playing their third game in four days, while the Hornets were coming off a four-day layoff. Hornets: Host Jazz on Friday.

DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) - Kellan Grady scored 19 points and Jon Axel Gudmundsson had 19 points, nine rebounds and two steals to help Davidson beat George Washington 72-45 on Wednesday night. Peyton Aldridge added 15 points and KiShawn Pritchett scored 11 on 5-of-7 shooting for Davidson (8-7, 3-1 Atlantic 10).

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Ahmed Hill scored 21 points while Justin Robinson came up with three critical baskets late to help Virginia Tech hold off Wake Forest 83-75 on Wednesday night. Robinson had just one basket before his flurry in the final 2 minutes. One was a stickback while being fouled for a 3-point play, another was a driving layup and a third came when he beat Brandon Childress to a long inbounds pass for a score.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Marvin Bagley III scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and No. 7 Duke had little trouble bouncing back from a loss to North Carolina State by drilling overmatched Pittsburgh 87-52 on Wednesday night. Bagley also blocked a shot while recording his 13th double-double of the season, one shy of the Duke freshman record shared by Jabari Parker and Gene Banks.
