Myrtle Beach police charge man in connection with three armed robberies within a week

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A Myrtle Beach man remains in custody following his arrest in connection with three armed robbery incidents within the city.

According to information from Myrtle Beach Police Lt. Joey Crosby, Jimmie Singletary was charged with three counts of armed robbery, one count of kidnapping, two counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and misrepresenting identity to law enforcement.

Online records from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center state the 26-year-old suspect is still in jail Thursday under no bond.

According to Myrtle Beach police, the first incident happened on April 20. The suspect allegedly approached the victim on Ocean Blvd near 10th Ave South 

Singletary reportedly told the victim he had a gun and demanded money, according to the MBPD. The incident was captured on city surveillance cameras.

The second reported robbery happened on April 24. The suspect allegedly approached a victim that was sitting in his car near the Landmark Hotel parking lot.  According to police, Singletary presented a gun and pointed it at the victim, who fled in his vehicle.  

Another robbery happened on April 24, when the suspect reportedly forced the victim at gunpoint to withdraw money from an ATM.

The third victim continuously entered the wrong code to prevent access to his bank account, according to police. When the person was unable to withdraw cash, the suspect forced the victim to purchase cigarettes.

According to Jed Jones with South Carolina Highway Patrol, a pick-up truck was traveling on U.S. 17, when it ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned around 1:55 Saturday morning. The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Conway Pastor Phillip Miles was arrested Thursday by TSA for carrying an unloaded pistol into Myrtle Beach International Airport. According to J. Reuben Long Detention Center’s website, Miles was charged with carrying weapons into restricted places and was released on $500.00 bond.
