MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – A man who was wanted on charges out of Rhode Island was taken into custody by officers after a SWAT standoff and negotiations at a neighborhood in Murrells Inlet Wednesday afternoon.
Officers went to the residence on Hawks Nest Circle where William J. Blair, 34, was located, according to Jason Lesley with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.
Blair refused to come out of the home, and negotiations went on for a brief time, Lesley said. The SWAT team was then summoned. Lesley said there was another man inside the home with Blair, and that man took the initial call from negotiators
Blair took a telephone call from inside the house, and negotiators convinced him to come out onto the porch. He was then taken in with "less-than-lethal force," Lesley said. Blair was then taken to the Georgetown County Detention Center, where charges against him are pending.
The situation ended at about 2 p.m., about three hours after it started. Lesley said the situation was resolved without injury.
At this time, the Lesley did not know what Blair was wanted out of Rhode Island.
