CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A Conway man was arrested by a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for allegedly having conversations via social media with a minor about engaging in sexual activity.

According to a press release from South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, Kenneth Howard McWilliams, 41, was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count of criminal solicitation of a minor.

Horry County Schools spokeswoman Teal Britton confirmed that McWilliams worked from 2008 to 2014 for the district, first as an AVID Coach at HCS Early College High School, then as a teacher at the Horry County Education Center. He resigned in September 2014 without a reason given.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the ICAC task force, made the arrest.

According to the release, the felony offense is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

The suspect was released from jail Tuesday under a $10,000 bond, according to online records from the Marion County Detention Center.
