DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A big performer mixed with an exciting and thrilling sport will hopefully mean an even bigger race weekend in Darlington.

Rock legend Brett Michaels will be performing at the track that’s too tough to tame, come this Labor Day weekend.

Race officials hope the concert will not only add to the throwback theme, but also introduce racing to a new group of people.

“There is a lot of people out in the community who said they are big Brett Michael’s fans. They man not necessarily be race fans but they are big Brett Michael fans’, so we are going to have the opportunity to get them here the racetrack and maybe for the first time and they’re going to like what they see because racing is exciting. It’s a great opportunity to get together with family and friends over Labor Day weekend,” Track President Kerry Tharp said.

While this not the first time the track has hosted a pre-race concert –this is the biggest artist they have ever hosted.

More staff will be brought in to help manage a concert of this magnitude.

The track's president said in the future you can expect to see even more big names to bring a pre-show performance to the track that’s too tough to tame.

“We need to extend beyond that and get the fans of all types and all interests and can come here and be entertained by a guy like Bret Michael and then we will build upon that. Yes, we are always looking for top notch entertainment,” Tharp said.
