City of Marion releases 2017 election results

MARION, SC (WMBF) – The City of Marion has released the mayor and city council results from the election that was held on Tuesday.

Ashley Brady, Bennie Davis, and Bobbie L. Davis were the mayoral candidates for the 2017 election. Brady came on top with 1,008 votes. Bennie Davis received 31 votes and Bobbie L. Davis came in with 888, according to Marion City Clerk Lakesha Shannon.

Emerson Hunt, a city council candidate, won with 224 votes. Betty Wright-McRae received 182 votes in the election, Shannon added.

    Conway Police seized MDMA, marijuana and $9,300 following a traffic stop at 1646 Church Street Saturday, according to a news release. James Gagum, Jr., 32, of Conway, was charged with intent to distribute marijuana and ecstasy (MDMA).
