Pedestrian killed while trying to cross Highway 17 in Georgetown Co.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A pedestrian was struck and killed while trying to cross U.S. Highway 17, near the intersection of South Causeway Road at around 10:00 Tuesday night, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The pedestrian was trying to cross the highway when they were struck in the roadway by a 2007 Chevy Avalanche, officials said.

Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson confirmed the victim as 58 year-old Robin Everhart of Pawleys Island.

The driver of the vehicle wasn't hurt.

The incident is still under investigation.
