HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A passenger was killed, and a driver died a day after being transported to the hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle collision occurred at around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday on Dongola Highway, near Conway, according top officials.

The 2006 Sterling Tractor Trailer was backing across the highway into a private drive when a 1995 Nissan Pickup ran into the side of it.

The passenger of the pickup, Chris Anthony Blair, 28, originally from Texas, was killed as a result. He died at the scene from blunt force trauma. The driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to Collins.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler confirmed that the driver of the truck, 37-year-old Myrtle Beach resident Joshua Bear, died Wednesday from mass trauma caused by the crash.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured, Collins added. That driver has been cited for failure to yield right-of-way.

The roadway was closed due to the crash.

SCHP is investigating this incident.
