HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The wife of a former Horry County detective at the center of multiple lawsuits filed against the Horry County Police Department that allege misconduct is now seeking a restraining order against her estranged husband and filing for divorce.

According to court documents filed March 16 with the Horry County Clerk of Courts, Karen Large and Allen Large separated on March 4 after almost 26 years of marriage.

In addition to filing for divorce, Karen Large is seeking a restraining order “prohibiting the defendant from calling, harassing, molesting, bothering, corresponding with, or in any way contacting the plaintiff at any place whatsoever,” the court documents state.

Last September, Large was one of four former Horry County police officers indicted for misconduct in office.

He faces six counts of misconduct in office and five counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Six women have filed lawsuits against Large and/or the HCPD, accusing the former detective of sexual assault and trying to get them to participate in nude “catfights” on video.
