Mother on leave from Gitmo surprises son for his birthday

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A mother who has been deployed at Guantanamo Bay since August now on leave and will be surprising her son for his birthday!

Jayden Wright, who turned 5 years old on April 6, was be called on stage to volunteer during his school’s Fine Arts Day presentation, and his mother surprised him. The big surprise happened at 11:15 a.m.

    Students will spend their first full school day in the new Myrtle Beach Middle School, at the corner of 29th Avenue North and Oak Street, after it officially opened its doors to continue the second half of the school year. Dr. Janice Christy, principal of the school said teachers worked throughout the weekend to get their classrooms prepared for Tuesday.
