FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Several school districts and colleges in the area have announced early dismissals and activity cancellations Wednesday due to the threat of severe weather. Horry County Schools has also cancelled all extracurricular activities and events, but schools will dismiss at their regular times.
The current list of schools that will dismiss early, or that have cancelled after-school activities includes: Florence School District 1, 2, 3, and 4, Darlington County School District, and Marlboro County School District, and Horry County Schools.
Coastal Carolina University announced that all classes and events after 4 p.m. are cancelled, and administrative offices will close at 4 p.m.
Francis Marion University has also announced they will close at 3:45 p.m., and evening classes and activities are cancelled. Williamsburg Technical College will close at 4 p.m. Wednesday and re-open at 10 a.m. Thursday. Florence-Darlington Technical College is closed for the remainder of the day Wednesday.
Miller-Motte Technical College has also announced that all evening classes are cancelled. The campus will be closed at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and will resume as scheduled on Thursday, April 6.

Due to the forecast of inclement weather later today, all Horry County Schools' extracurricular activities and events are cancelled for April 5, 2017. Schools will dismiss at their regularly-scheduled times. Afterschool childcare programs at elementary schools will maintain regular operational hours.
An announcement from Georgetown County School District reads:
All afternoon and evening activities for Georgetown County School District for Wednesday, April 5, have been postponed or cancelled due to possible inclement weather.
An announcement from FSD1 reads:
Due to the threat of inclement weather, all Florence One Schools will be dismissed early today. Elementary students will be dismissed at 11:10 a.m.; middle and high school students will be dismissed at 12 noon. Faculty and staff members will be dismissed from schools after all students have left the school buildings. All after-school activities and programs have been cancelled for today.
Florence One Administrative Offices will be closed at 2:00 p.m. today as well.
An announcement from FSD2 reads:
Due to the forecasted inclement weather, Florence County School District 2 schools will dismiss early today, April 5, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. All district events (after-school programs and athletic events) are canceled for today.
Any future announcements will be made using the district's automated calling system, website, social media, and local media outlets.
The FSD3 announcement reads:
Due to the threat of severe weather, Florence County School District Three will dismiss students early today and will operate on a one-hour delay for students only on Thursday.
Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. The Alternative Center for Education will dismiss at 12:10 p.m. Ronald E. McNair Junior High and J. Paul Truluck Intermediate schools will dismiss at 12:15 p.m. and Lake City High will dismiss at 12:40 p.m.
In addition, all after-school activities, including after-school programs and athletic games and practices, are canceled today.
The FSD4 announcement reads:
Due to pending Weather Alert – Florence County School District Four will dismiss today, April 5, 2017 at 1:00pm today for students. Staff may leave at 1:45pm. There will be a one hour delay for students, Thursday, April 6. All staff report at 7:30AM.
The FSD5 announcement reads:
Florence County School District Five will release school early today, April 5, 2017 due to the threat of severe weather. Johnsonville Elementary School will release at 11:30 a.m. and Johnsonville Middle and High Schools at 12:15 p.m.
The Darlington County School District announcement reads:
Due to anticipated inclement weather later this afternoon, all after-school student activities in the Darlington County School District are canceled today. This includes all home and away athletic, academic and extracurricular student activities this afternoon and evening.
Please note, today is already scheduled as an early dismissal day for students. The normal early dismissal schedule after lunch will still be in place. That schedule can be found under "Quick Links" on the district's website.
Afternoon 4K registration for Darlington County Schools, which was scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, has also been postponed until Thursday, April 6 by the weather. The locations for 4K registration on April 6 are as follows:
• For the Darlington area, registration will be held on April 6 at J.L. Cain Elementary, Pate
Elementary and St. John's Elementary schools.
• For the Hartsville area, registration will be held on April 6 at Southside Early Childhood
• For the Society Hill area, registration will be held on April 6 at Rosenwald Elementary/Middle School.
• For the Lamar area, registration will be held on April 6 at Lamar Elementary School.
The Marlboro County School District announcement states:
Marlboro County School District takes every precaution to ensure the safety of students and staff. Due to the threat of high winds from the south with potential for gusts of 50-60 miles per hour, Marlboro County School District is announcing that schools for students and staff will be dismissed early today, April 5, 2017 at the following times:

The Williamsburg Technical College announcement reads:
Williamsburg Technical College will be closing at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5th due to hazardous weather. We will resume operations at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 6th.
