Police: Lake City homeowner shot after break-in

LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) – A homeowner who lives on Taylor Street was shot during an apparent robbery at around midnight on Tuesday, according to a Facebook post from the Lake City Police Department.

The homeowner was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Anyone with information about this robbery and shooting case is asked to contact the Lake City Police Department Investigation Division.

    An Horry County mother and her boyfriend were arrested, and their children were placed in protective custody after officers found their home filled with piles of trash, animal waste, various insects, animals in poor condition, and an “unbearable” odor, according to a police report. The children, who were reportedly covered in bites and sores and appeared to be dirty, were taken into emergency protective custody, the report states.
