MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Underground work will begin on Cannon Road, between Highway 15 and ABC Drive, Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Myrtle Beach City Government.

The SCDOT will close Cannon Road because crews have to replace a new drainage pipe beneath the road. An older, galvanized pipe installed 50 years ago has rusted out, officials said.

Ocean Boulevard at 52nd Avenue North will also be closed for road work to install a new sewer manhole Monday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured onto 52nd Avenue North, Kings Highway and Hampton Circle.
