MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with a veterans group to send five area veterans to the nation’s capital to participate in the 2017 National Memorial Day Parade.

According to an MBACC press release, one veteran from each branch of service and their guest will be flown to Washington, D.C. to represent the Grand Strand in the nationally televised parade.

The MBACC has partnered with the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center, who will make the selections, the release stated.

“We are excited to promote our community to a national audience during the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C.” said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “Our mobile welcome center will capture the attention in the parade and will be a traveling promotion throughout the D.C. region that weekend. Who better to represent our community in the parade than veterans who have served our nation with honor and distinction?

Veterans can apply – or be nominated – by submitting an online form here.

Printed applications can be picked up and submitted at the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center located at 421 Hwy 57 South in Little River, or at the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce located at 1200 N. Oak St. in Myrtle Beach.

The national parade will take place on May 29, 2017.
