HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Lancaster man died Monday at Grand Strand Medical Center following a weekend crash in Horry County.
According to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler, the crashed happened at 4 p.m. Saturday near the entrance of the Myrtle Beach State Park.
Just before 1 p.m. Monday, James Starnes, 56, died as a result of that collision, according to Fowler.
He added the victim died from multiple trauma he sustained in the crash.
The crash happened on U.S. 17 Business near the state park when the driver of a southbound 2009 Toyota pickup attempted to turn left into a private drive and struck two northbound motorcyclists, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins.
Billy Funderburke, 56, the driver of the pickup truck, was charged with failure to yield the right-of-way, Collins said.
The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to Collins.
