Subject of Florence County manhunt taken into custody

PAMPLICO, SC (WMBF) – The subject of a manhunt Wednesday in the Pamplico area following an alleged burglary was taken into custody.

According to a press release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, William Anthony Floyd, 27, of Florence, was charged with second-degree burglary and use of a vehicle without the owner’s permission.

Floyd was wanted in connection with an alleged burglary when he fled into the woods between Hyman Road and Blackstreet Road near Pamplico, the release stated.

The FCSO’s canine tracking team and aviation unit were utilized, as well as officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources. The suspect was taken into custody at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

According to online records from the Florence County Detention Center, the suspect is also facing charges from the SCHP for driving under suspension, improper passing and leaving the scene.

He remained in jail Thursday under no bond.
