FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Brian Souchet, a teacher at South Florence High School, is the latest recipient of the Ruiz 4 Kids Mini Teacher Grant.

According to a press release, Souchet was presented the $1,000 grant on March 29to help fund his project, Aviation STEM.

With the help of the grant, students will now be able to apply what they've learned in Souchet’s aviation ground school in a high-fidelity simulator environment.

The Aviation STEM program at SFHS includes an introduction to aerodynamics, instrumentation, airport operations, aviation physiology and human performance factors, the release stated. An important component of the program is the student’s ability to use the skills learned with the use of the desktop flight simulator.

Ruiz 4 Kids is a non-profit organization that works to fund youth education programs. To learn more about the scholarships and grants, visit their website at Ruiz4kids.org
