MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A man was reportedly choked and robbed while walking down the street and counting money near Yaupon Drive just after midnight Tuesday.
Police responded to 11th Avenue South between South Ocean Boulevard and Yaupon Drive early Tuesday morning in reference to a strong armed robbery complaint, according to a Myrtle Beach Police report.
The victim, a 29-year-old man, told police he was walking down the street when the suspect came up to him, choked him and took all the money out of his hand. The victim said the suspect also tried to hit him with a sign.
The victim said he had his money in his hand and was counting it when the suspect approached him.
The suspect was located by an officer at the corner of 9th Avenue South and South Ocean Boulevard. The victim positively identified the suspect as the man that robbed him. The suspect claimed he did not rob anyone, and asked to go to the hospital because he had a broken finger. The suspect was admitted to the hospital.
As of Wednesday morning, the suspect had not been arrested or charged by Myrtle Beach Police, according to available records.
