HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – A traffic stop in Hartsville led to the discovery of drugs and the arrest of two on a number of charges, according to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

A DCSO press release stated that Albert Lester Jacobs, 37, and Yoisha Renee Merrell, 38, both of Pageland, were each charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute ecstasy.

Both remain in the Darlington County Detention Center awaiting arraignment.

According to the release, a DCSO deputy conducted a traffic stop on Bobo Newsome Highway on March 26 after receiving a complaint about the vehicle.

During the stop, Jacobs, who was a passenger, allegedly attempted to run from law enforcement, the release stated. The deputy was able to catch and detain the suspect after a brief chase.

After a search of the vehicle, marijuana, ecstasy pills and crack cocaine were allegedly found, according to the release.
