COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) – The National Guard Bureau Directive mandated that armory rentals to the general public be stopped until the facility meets the new measured standard when tested.
"National Guard Bureau changed the acceptable measurement standard for residual lead that was in compliance with the OSHA standard of 200 micrograms per square foot to 40 micrograms per square foot, which is the EPA and HUD standard," according to a press release from the South Carolina National Guard.
As of March 2017, 36 South Carolina National Guard Armories are impacted by this directive and are not available for rentals:
- Fort Mill
- Monks Corner
- Myrtle Beach
- North Charleston
- Rock Hill
- West Columbia
