FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) -The number one industrial mega site on the eastern coast is in our area and Florence County Council said it is making sure it is a contender when it comes to job investments.
Right now, the main road running through the site is a dirt road, but soon $4 million will go into paving and adding other infrastructure improvements.
County leaders said the site already has water and sewer and the millions being pumped into the industrial park are sure to catch the eyes of potential investors.
The White Hawk Industrial Park is located on Kopper Road and for potential industries that location is a plus, because it's just feet from the airport, a stone's throw away from the rail line and just a couple of miles from Interstate 95.
"We are spending Capital Sales Project Two, designated money on that road. We are looking at improving another $600,000 to $800,000 for engineering for a connector road to Highway 327. This road will run from 76 to all the way to old Marion highway right in front of Wilson High School," said Florence County Council Chairman Kent Caudle.
Infrastructure improvements for Kopper Road will begin after a contractor is selected.
