DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - For the first time ever the largest attraction in the Pee Dee is allowing a different kind of racing.

"We encourage runners throughout the area and region to sign up and have a truly unique 5K experience around Darlington Raceway," track President Kerry Tharp said. "The entire event is shaping up to be a fun-filled day at the track for our local community."

The track that's too tough to tame is hosting the Spring Fling 5-k.

Part of the course includes running on the track, which professional drivers go more than 150 miles per hour on during the Bojangels Southern 500.

In addition to that, an Easter egg hunt will take place, followed by free community dinner.

"It's a pretty cool opportunity to be able to take a lap around the track that's too tough to tame, it's not often folks can do that. We encourage runners to do that and if they want to walk we encourage that as well," Tharp said.

All the fun is happening on April 1.
