DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The Darlington County Sheriff's Office was gifted 10 new digital in-car camera systems.
According to a DCSO press release, the individual systems include a camera, a microphone and a playback system.
Each car camera system would sell for almost $5,300, the release stated. Combined, the 10 sets cost almost $53,000.
According to the release, the systems were gifted to the DCSO by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. They are to help the office prosecute DUI cases and provide transparency.
Ten new patrol vehicles are expected to arrive beginning this summer. They will house the new camera systems.
