NEW ORLEANS – In a season of firsts for the Coastal Carolina athletic department, another first has been reached as junior guard Jaylen Shaw becomes the first member of the men’s basketball program named to an All-Sun Belt Team.

The Hartsville, S.C. native was named to the Third Team by a vote of the media and head coaches of the conference.  Shaw is listed among the conference leaders in many rankings.

He leads the Chantcleers and is 11th in the conference in scoring at 14.1 points per game.  Shaw is shooting over 39 percent from beyond the three point line which is seventh in the conference and his 3.6 assists per game has him seventh.

Even though he is not the main point guard for the Chants, his 1.7 turnover/assist ratio is seventh and his 84 percent free throw shooting leads the Sun Belt Conference.

He has scored in double digits in 25 of the team’s 31 games this season and he scored 20 points or more seven times this season, which was a team-high.
