Darlington Police, Fire Department donated toys to less fortunate families Christmas Eve

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - The Darlington Police Department and Darlington Fire Department got together to give away toys to less fortunate families on Christmas Eve, according to the Darlington Police Department’s Facebook post.

Over 30 families were benefited by the donations of many people in the public and private sector, the post states.

Safety personnel has been giving away toys for the last five years and plans to continue to do it for many years to come, according to the post.

Chief Patrick Cavanaugh with Darlington City Fire and Chief Daniel Watson with Darlington City Police thanked all of their donors and the people who came to help give out toys.

    Two people were killed in an overnight accident in North Myrtle Beach, according to a Facebook post from NMB Fire Rescue. The crash happened just after 11:00 in the Cherry Grove exit on North Highway 17. A single vehicle had crashed off the roadway into the woods and was flipped onto its passenger side.

    The Horry County Police Department is searching for Donna Lynn Smart. Smart was last seen Saturday morning around 11:00 a.m. wearing light colored clothes possibly sweatpants and a sweatshirt.     According to the city’s spokesperson, Myrtle Beach business license revenues are up 13.5% from 2016. This is the highest year-to-year growth rate in the last 10 years. Business license revenues totaled $25,121,701 in 2017, compared to $22,133,249 in 2016.
