Storm recovery opens more intake centers in Grand Strand, Pee Dee

GRAND STRAND, PEE DEE (WMBF) - The South Carolina Disaster Recovery Office has opened mobile intake centers in the Grand Strand and Pee Dee counties to accept individual applications for housing recovery related to the October 2015 storm, according to SCDRO's press release. 

Each mobile office will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

Mobile intake centers will be set up in the following counties or combined county areas:

  • Bamberg
  • Berkeley
  • Calhoun
  • Clarendon
  • Charleston
  • Darlington-Florence
  • Dorchester
  • Georgetown
  • Greenville-Spartanburg
  • Horry
  • Kershaw-Lee
  • Marion
  • Newberry-Fairfield-Greenwood
  • Orangeburg

    Two people were killed in an overnight accident in North Myrtle Beach, according to a Facebook post from NMB Fire Rescue. The crash happened just after 11:00 in the Cherry Grove exit on North Highway 17. A single vehicle had crashed off the roadway into the woods and was flipped onto its passenger side.

    The Horry County Police Department is searching for Donna Lynn Smart. Smart was last seen Saturday morning around 11:00 a.m. wearing light colored clothes possibly sweatpants and a sweatshirt.     According to the city’s spokesperson, Myrtle Beach business license revenues are up 13.5% from 2016. This is the highest year-to-year growth rate in the last 10 years. Business license revenues totaled $25,121,701 in 2017, compared to $22,133,249 in 2016.
