Crews extinguish brush fires on Highway 31 near Robert Edge Parkway

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Multiple brush fires along Highway 31 near Robert Edge Parkway were extinguished by fire crews Friday morning.

It appears that four isolated fires started along a one-mile stretch of Highway 31 from mile marker 4 to the North Myrtle Beach exit, according to North Myrtle Beach spokesman Pat Dowling. The four fires joined together as one brush fire. The fire was contained along the road and did not enter the woods beyond.

Firefighters from North Myrtle Beach Fire and Horry County Fire Rescue worked to extinguish them.

According to officials, there was no danger of the fires spreading to any homes. The North Myrtle Beach Fire Chief said the fires were mostly contained as of 9:20 a.m.
