AUBURN, Ala. – Coastal Carolina traveled to Auburn to face the Tigers and ran into a buzz saw in a 117-72 loss to Auburn.
It was a game which saw Auburn (8-2) shoot 56 percent from the field and if that wasn't bad enough, they hit 21 0f their 42 three point attempts for 50 percent.
Danjel Purifoy led the Tigers with 27 points while teammate Mustapha Heron scored 17. A total of 14 players got in the game for Auburn with 10 of those players hitting three point field goa.s
Coastal got 22 points from Wilson to lead CCU. Jaylan Robertson came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points, but they were the only two players to reach double digits.
CCU (5-7) only managed to shoot 32 percent from the field and 22 percent from beyond the three point line.
For only the second time this season the Chants were out rebounded as Auburn had 48 rebounds to CCU's 40.
Auburn broke open a close first half by outscoring the Chants 31-5 over the final 6:34 of the first half. It was a barrage of three point field goals to help carry the Tigers in their 54 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes.
Auburn hit 10 of its 19 three point field goals with Purifoy leading the way with 17 points and three three point field goals. Harper hit four threes and had 12 points at the half.
Wilson had 15 first half points to lead CCU. The Chants on shot 26 percent from the field in the half and only hit four of its 18 three point attempts.
