Marion man pleads guilty to murder for January 2015 shooting

MARION, SC (WMBF) – A Marion man pleaded guilty Tuesday to murder for the shooting death of a man in January 2015, confirmed Marion Police Chief Dewayne Tennie.

Jerell Reaves was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to shooting John Floyd of Marion in a vehicle outside the Midway Minimart on January 6, 2015, Tennie confirmed.

Police arrested Reaves in Marion shortly after the incident. Reaves was taken to Marion County Detention Center.

    The lawsuit against Horry County Police and other associated defendants filed in 2016 by “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” alleging misconduct by now-deceased former detective Allen Large was settled and dismissed on Monday, according to court document obtained by WMBF News.

    Fire investigators with Horry County Fire Rescue have determined the origin of the fire at Windsor Green condos on April 12. According to a release from HCFR, the fire originated on the exterior wall of the second floor breezeway in proximity to Unit 201.
