MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A 49-year-old Myrtle Beach man was arrested Friday for his alleged possession of child pornography.
Daniel John Barrett was arrested and charged with eight counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a news release from the Attorney General's Office. Barrett was also charged with simple possession of marijuana, according to jail records
The Horry County Sheriff's Office, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, made the arrest with assistance from investigators with the Attorney General's office, the release states.
A charge of sexual exploitation of a minor is a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Attorney General Alan Wilson stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent unless they are proven guilty.
