WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A man was killed after the vehicle he was driving was struck by an Amtrak train on Highway 52 in Williamsburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
At about 12:46 a.m. Tuesday, a 2015 Ford Focus was traveling east on Eastland Avenue at the Highway 52 intersection, according to SCHP. The driver went around the railroad cross arms, which indicated an oncoming train. The vehicle was struck by the train, and the driver was killed.
Deputy Coroner Vernarl Fulton confirmed one man was killed in the crash, but the man's identity has not been released at this time.
