Authorities identify suspect arrested for Murrells Inlet bank robbery

MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – One suspect is in custody after a bank robbery in Murrells Inlet, officials confirm.

Joshua Paul Santerre, 39, of Myrtle Beach, is charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and threatening to use a destructive device, according to a news release from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. Bond was set at $250,000 total for the three charges.

The robbery happened about 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the South State Bank in Murrells Inlet, according to the GCSO.

Authorities said a man walked into the bank and gave a note to the staff saying he wanted money from the staff and placed a suspicious cylindrical item on the counter.

The man did get away with an undisclosed amount of money and left. 

No injuries occurred during the incident, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. 

The man was eventually found about a quarter mile from the bank and taken into custody.

    A man stole a housekeeper’s jacket at a Myrtle Beach hotel with reportedly $200 inside before fleeing the scene shirtless, according to a Myrtle Beach Police Department incident report. Police responded to the Bay View Resort at 504 North Ocean Boulevard Monday at approximately 1:20 p.m. in regards to a larceny. The victim reported that a jacket was stolen from the pool area of the hotel.

    A vehicle ran into the side of a home early Wednesday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The incident occurred at approximately 2:38 a.m. Wednesday on Wallingord Circle. A WMBF News crew at the scene reported that at least three Horry Corry Fire trucks and one ambulance were on scene.
