MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Thanksgiving has been constantly known as the most traveled holiday of the year, and law enforcement is encouraging everyone to be safe on roadways.
During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in 2014, 341 passenger vehicle occupants were killed in traffic crashes across the nation, according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department. Tragically, 50% of those killed were not buckled up at the time of their fatal crash.
Darlington police warn travelers to leave home early and plan ahead, according to DPD's Facebook post.
The Darlington Police Department and fire department will also be raising money to purchase toys for needy children on the 52 Bypass on Friday. This roadway between 0900 to 1200 may be congested so travelers are urged be careful.
The local police departments would like everyone to have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday.
