HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The South Carolina Forestry Commission will lift a burn ban for the coastal and Pee Dee communities Wednesday starting at 8 a.m.
According to a press release, the ban is being lifted because of reduced winds and increasing relative humidity in the forecast. It will remain in effect for all Piedmont counties.
The statewide ban was issued last Saturday because of weather conditions associated with a cold front that presented an elevated risk of wildfire, the release stated. It was also enacted as a precautionary measure because many of the agency's personnel and resources are currently deployed to the Pinnacle Mountain fire at Table Rock State Park in Pickens County.
