Bishopville pastor accused of exposing himself to woman near Coker College

HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – A Bishopville pastor has been charged with allegedly exposing himself to a woman following a weekend incident.

According to a press release from the Hartsville Police Department, Xaiquiri Matthews, 28, was charged with indecent exposure.

Online records from the Darlington County Detention Center show that he was released Sunday under a $25,000 bond.

The release stated Hartsville police responded to Second Street behind Coker College at 8 p.m., after they received the call about the suspect exposing himself.

Matthews reportedly admitted to the crime and confessed to other similar incidents in the same area over the previous month, according to the release.

Hartsville Police Lt. Mark Blair confirmed the suspect is a pastor in Bishopville.

According to information on the First Baptist Church of Bishopville's website, Matthews came to the church in July of this year. He grew up in August, Ga., and graduated with a bachelor of arts in communications from Augusta University in 2011 before attending the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

Police responded to the Bay View Resort at 504 North Ocean Boulevard Monday at approximately 1:20 p.m. in regards to a larceny. The victim reported that a jacket was stolen from the pool area of the hotel.

    A vehicle ran into the side of a home early Wednesday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The incident occurred at approximately 2:38 a.m. Wednesday on Wallingord Circle. A WMBF News crew at the scene reported that at least three Horry Corry Fire trucks and one ambulance were on scene.
