Conway man charged in Calabash bank robbery

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A Conway man was arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly robbing a PNC Bank in Calabash, N.C., on Friday.

According to a press release from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Kevin Michael Riera, is being held in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. He will eventually be brought back to North Carolina and formally charged with common law robbery and second-degree kidnapping.

An arrest warrant alleges Riera robbed the bank of $2,500 and made a bank teller fear for her safety.

Bank surveillance cameras were able to get images of the suspect.

The South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division and Coastal Carolina University Public Safety assisted in the arrest.

    A man stole a housekeeper’s jacket at a Myrtle Beach hotel with reportedly $200 inside before fleeing the scene shirtless, according to a Myrtle Beach Police Department incident report. Police responded to the Bay View Resort at 504 North Ocean Boulevard Monday at approximately 1:20 p.m. in regards to a larceny. The victim reported that a jacket was stolen from the pool area of the hotel.

    A vehicle ran into the side of a home early Wednesday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The incident occurred at approximately 2:38 a.m. Wednesday on Wallingord Circle. A WMBF News crew at the scene reported that at least three Horry Corry Fire trucks and one ambulance were on scene.
