Grand Strand, Pee Dee host Thanksgiving events

GRAND STRAND, PEE DEE (WMBF) - The holiday season has begun and there will be Thanksgiving events hosted around the Grand Strand and Pee Dee. Some restaurants are also making things easier by serving Thanksgiving dishes.
Below are the following events, locations, dates and time:

  • A Day of Thanks and Giving - BlueChoice HealthPlan Medicaid wants to thank Florence by giving a festive event to help families on Tuesday, November 22 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Northwest Park Community Center located on 801 Ingram Street in Florence.  The first 100 families will get a whole turkey and holiday trimmings; there will also be healthy holiday cooking demonstrations, refreshments, prizes and games.
  • 2nd Annual "Day of Thanks" - The Florence Financial Planning Firm is offering free meals to help the homeless in the Florence meal on Wednesday, November 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Courtney McGinnis Graham Community Shelter at the House of Hope located at 535 S. Church Street 
  • Surfside Beach Rotary 7th Annual Turkey Trot - Surfside Beach is hosting a Turkey Trot race on Thanksgiving Day, November 24 at the Surfside Pier in Surfside Beach starting at 8:00 a.m. Everyone is welcomed to participate in the one mile race. This race will help support the Surfside Area Rotary Club for their charitable works in the Surfside Beach community. Click here to register for the Turkey Trot race.
  • 10th Anual Myrtle Beach Turkey Trot - There will be a Turkey Trot race at The Market Common on Thanksgiving Day, November 24 beginning at 8:00 a.m. The Myrtle Beach Humane Society is the official charity of the Myrtle Beach Turkey Trot. The race is also free for children. Click here to register for this event. 
  • Florence Turkey Trot - The 4th Annual Florence Turkey Trot will be held on Thanksgiving morning at 8:30 a.m. at Briggs Elementary School. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy family and friends, and give thanks. Click here to register.
  • Several Broadway at the Beach restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe, Landry's Seafood or Good Time Charley's will be serving up traditional Thanksgiving meals.
